GREEN BAY, Wis. — Micah Parsons practiced with the Green Bay Packers on Wednesday for the first time since his knee injury last December, starting the 21-day window the team has to activate the star edge rusher.
Parsons, who has been on the physically unable to perform list, was limited to individual drills. He said afterward that the day felt rewarding and that he had no nerves after more than 300 days of rehab, and that he was looking forward to next week, when he expects to do more and get a better sense of where he stands.
The end of the window falls on the night before Thanksgiving, Nov. 25, when Green Bay plays the Los Angeles Rams at SoFi Stadium. Parsons treated that game as a target rather than a promise, saying he did not want to set a date and let people down.
His recovery has run longer than those of teammates Christian Watson and Tucker Kraft, who came back from torn ACLs, because Parsons had both an ACL reconstruction and a full meniscus repair. He tore the ACL in Week 15 last season. Parsons was candid that his conditioning is the worst of his career and that he does not expect to handle a full workload of 50 to 60 snaps right away.
Coach Matt LaFleur called the return a big lift after the work Parsons put in, and quarterback Jordan Love said seeing him on the field was a major morale boost even if it takes a couple of weeks to get him up to speed.
Parsons, 27, has never finished a season with fewer than 12 sacks across his five years in the league, and he posted 12.5 in his debut year with Green Bay. He joins a defense that ranks in the top 10 in both points and yards allowed.
