Jacksonville, FL – Jaedon Griffin, an 18-year-old recent graduate of Sandalwood High School, tragically lost his life in a motorcycle accident on the Mathews Bridge early Sunday morning. The Florida Highway Patrol confirmed that Griffin was riding his motorcycle when the incident occurred around 10:20 a.m.
During the accident, Griffin was reported to have been traveling westbound in the left lane at a high rate of speed when he collided with an SUV. Despite wearing a helmet, he sustained critical injuries and was transported to the hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The driver of the SUV, a 29-year-old man from Jacksonville, and three passengers, including two children, were unharmed in the accident. Following the crash, all westbound lanes of the Mathews Bridge were closed for several hours as authorities conducted their investigation and cleared the scene.
Jaedon’s mother, Jakeia Griffin, described her son as a profoundly wise individual, reflecting on the deep sense of loss she felt upon visiting the crash site. She referred to him as the “baby of the bunch” and highlighted his eagerness to work and help others.
