A Family Man First and Foremost

Born on December 1, 1948, in St. Louis, Bob was the cherished son of Mr. Robert Thomas Schloemer Sr. and Mrs. Shirley H. Schloemer. Though his parents have sadly passed on, Bob leaves behind a loving family, including his beautiful wife, Carolyn Pons Schloemer, whom he celebrated 43 wonderful years of marriage with. Together, they created a warm, nurturing environment for their children.

He was a proud father of four: Kimberly Hanna, married to Brad, living in Cumming, Georgia; Kristin Schloemer Bryant, married to Roger, residing in Smyrna, Georgia; Lynn Allen Norton, married to Jim, based in Valrico, Florida; and Bob Allen, married to Sue, calling Jacksonville, Florida, home. Bob was also a doting grandfather to six grandchildren, including Matt Estes, who is married to Leighanne, Bradley Norton, Nate Hanna, Wesley Hanna, Libby Hanna, and Rowan Bryant. And let’s not forget about his two great-grandsons, Garrett Estes and Joshua Estes, who certainly brought a sparkle to his eyes!

A Lifelong Entrepreneurial Journey

Bob’s career journey was as remarkable as his personal life. He earned his B.S. degree in Business Administration in 1971 from West Georgia College, known today as the University of West Georgia, where he also made a lasting impact as a founding member of the Sigma Nu Fraternity, Theta Pi Chapter. Following graduation, Bob took his first step into the working world in Miami, Florida, diving into the printing services business.

However, the North Georgia area would soon become his home base. In 1976, he opened the respected Roswell Ace Hardware, a store that became a staple in the community. Bob dedicated himself to the business until his retirement in 2000, leaving a legacy of hard work and dedication in the hearts of his many loyal customers and employees.

A Community Leader and Enthusiast

Bob was not just an entrepreneur, but an active member of the community too. His involvement with the Roswell Rotary Club and his service as President of the North Fulton Chamber of Commerce showcased his commitment to helping others and fostering connections in the Atlanta area. Bob was a familiar face at local events, and his presence often brought joy to those around him.

A Passion for Life

Outside of work, Bob was an avid golfer, known for achieving the impressive milestone of three hole-in-ones during his golfing adventures at Settindown Golf Club. His green thumb allowed him to create a stunning yard and garden, reflecting his love for nurturing beauty in all forms. He cherished outdoor activities like fishing and hunting, which provided him with ample opportunities to bond with family and friends.

Celebrating Bob’s Life

As the community comes together to celebrate Bob’s life, a gathering will be planned at a later date. This poignant event will be filled with family, friends, great food, and delightful drinks – all in a way that Bob would have treasured and enjoyed.
