Jacksonville’s McKesson Facility to Feature New Signage for Acosta Group and Dark Matter Technologies
Jacksonville, Florida – A permit has been issued for Taylor Sign & Design Inc. to place new signage on the former McKesson building located at 6651 Gate Parkway. The signage will prominently feature Acosta Group, the building’s anchor tenant, along with Dark Matter Technologies, which occupies the top floor.
The new signs will face the west side of the four-story building, enhancing visibility for both companies along the busy thoroughfare of Gate Parkway. Acosta Group’s Executive Vice President, Mike Smith, expressed that the signage represents an important opportunity for the company to improve its visibility within the Jacksonville area.
Details on Acosta Group’s Relocation
Acosta Group, a global marketing, retailing, and brand placement firm with a history spanning 98 years, recently relocated its headquarters from Southpoint to Southside Quarter. This new location, situated at the intersection of Butler Boulevard and Interstate 295, is designed to better support the company’s expanding presence in Jacksonville.
The headquarters will incorporate 60,204 square feet of subleased space on the first and second floors of the building, which has an overall size of 125,532 square feet. Renovations are being handled by LAY Construction and are aimed at accommodating approximately 250 staff members. The improved location and amenities are expected to attract new talent.
A grand-opening event is planned to mark the completion of renovations at the new headquarters. The Acosta Group’s name is anticipated to be installed on the building’s top west side during the week of July 14.
Dark Matter Technologies Moves In
Dark Matter Technologies, known for its innovations in mortgage technology, has also made the decision to relocate its headquarters to the building’s top floor. Previously part of Black Knight, Dark Matter Technologies is set to undergo a leadership change, with Sean Dugan appointed as CEO effective April 2025, succeeding founder Rich Gagliano.
The third floor of the facility is being renovated for Selene Finance, a project authorized for LAY Construction at a cost of $313,856, covering 25,596 square feet. This means the former McKesson building is fully leased with Acosta Group occupying the first two floors and Dark Matter Technologies occupying the top floor.
Background and History
The structure originally developed for McKesson Corp. in 2019 was vacated as a result of the increasing trend toward remote work, accelerated by the COVID-19 pandemic. McKesson has engaged CBRE as its representative for subleasing the property, which was placed on the market in 2022.
Acosta Group was founded in Jacksonville in 1927 and has undergone significant transformations over the years, including a Chapter 11 bankruptcy reorganization in 2019 that allowed the company to emerge debt-free. The last five years have seen Acosta rebranding and expanding its operations through various acquisitions, ultimately leading to the growth of its workforce and client base. Presently, the company employs around 60,000 individuals across North America, the UK, and other locations.
The new signage on the former McKesson facility represents a significant step in both companies’ strategies to enhance their presence in Jacksonville’s vibrant business landscape.
