Jacksonville – Ameris Bank has announced the appointment of Luciano “Lou” Noir-Jones as the Jacksonville market president, effective May 12. Noir-Jones is expected to lead the bank’s Commercial Banking team, with a focus on growth initiatives in the Jacksonville area. This strategic appointment comes as Ameris Bank prepares to expand its footprint with the opening of a new branch in Downtown Jacksonville.

In his new role, Noir-Jones will report to Emily Dawkins, the Florida state president of Ameris Bank. His responsibilities will include overseeing the bank’s commercial banking operations and driving business development efforts in the region. The new president brings over 20 years of extensive experience in the banking industry to the position. Previously, he served as the North Florida area executive for Ameris Bank for more than three years.

Noir-Jones’ banking career has seen him hold various positions at prominent financial institutions, including Wells Fargo, First Atlantic Bank, and Atlantic Coast Bank. His background includes roles as a retail group manager and leader of the commercial lending and business banking teams, which have equipped him with a broad understanding of banking operations and customer needs.

In addition to his professional responsibilities, Noir-Jones is known for his deep community engagement. He serves on multiple boards, including the Gator Bowl, Challenge Enterprises, Hubbard House, and the St. Johns County Economic Development Council. Outside of his banking duties, he also contributes to local youth activities as a baseball coach at the Episcopal School of Jacksonville.

Ameris Bank is also making headlines with its plans to open a new branch at 200 W. Forsyth St. in Downtown Jacksonville, in the space previously occupied by Truist Tower. The building permit for this new branch was issued on April 16, and the anticipated opening date is set for the third quarter of 2025, which spans from July to September. This initiative reflects Ameris Bank’s commitment to enhancing its presence in urban centers and responding to customer demand for banking services.

Currently, Ameris Bank operates 164 financial centers throughout the Southeastern United States and maintains a total of 12 branches in the Jacksonville area. The bank’s expansion efforts, including the new Downtown branch, are part of a broader strategy to strengthen its market position and provide customers with easier access to banking services.

The Jacksonville market is a significant focus for Ameris Bank, and with the leadership of Noir-Jones, the bank aims to further its growth and enhance customer engagement. As Ameris Bank prepares for these upcoming changes, the integration of experienced leadership and community involvement is expected to reinforce the bank’s objectives in the region.

With the banking landscape constantly evolving, the appointment of Noir-Jones and the establishment of a new branch underscore Ameris Bank’s proactive approach to meet market demands, foster community relationships, and expand its service offerings in Jacksonville.
