Infra Pipe manufacturing facility in Jacksonville producing HDPE pipes

News Summary

Infra Pipe Solutions Ltd., a Canadian company, has acquired a production facility in Jacksonville for $15 million, enhancing its U.S. operations. The joint venture, FNLR Even Flow LLC, hires 13 former employees and plans to expand the workforce to 50. This facility will manufacture solid wall pressure pipes, addressing growing infrastructure demands in the Southeastern U.S., making it the only producer of HDPE pipes in Florida. Backed by Fortress Investment Group, the acquisition aligns with Infra Pipe’s growth strategy and commitment to superior customer service.

Jacksonville – Infra Pipe Solutions Ltd., a company based in Canada, has successfully acquired a production facility in Jacksonville, marking a significant expansion of its U.S. operations. The announcement of this $15 million purchase, finalized on May 8, was made on May 12. The facility, located at 109 Stevens St., encompasses 7.58 acres and includes a substantial 177,820-square-foot building that was originally constructed in 1959.

The acquisition was facilitated through a joint venture named FNLR Even Flow LLC, and it represents Infra Pipe’s continuing growth strategy to increase their manufacturing capacity and improve customer service. Upon assuming control of the facility, Infra Pipe has hired 13 former leadership and key employees of the previous owner, Flying W Plastics. While no employees were present at Flying W Plastics when the deal closed, Infra Pipe plans to expand the workforce at the Jacksonville site to approximately 50 employees.

As a result of this acquisition, Infra Pipe now operates a total of four manufacturing plants in the U.S., which are strategically located in Rockaway, New Jersey; Greeneville, Tennessee; and Pryor, Oklahoma. In addition to its U.S. operations, Infra Pipe maintains manufacturing plants in Huntsville, Ontario, and Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, in Canada.

The Jacksonville facility is set to produce solid wall pressure pipes for various applications, including potable water, stormwater management, and wastewater drainage. This is in response to the growing demand for infrastructure solutions in the Southeastern United States. The introduction of this production capability is essential, as the facility is the only one in Florida that produces solid-wall High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) pipes.

In regard to future plans, Infra Pipe Solutions aims to evaluate the addition of further capacity and new product lines, ensuring they meet evolving market needs. The company is backed by Fortress Investment Group, a prominent private equity firm with assets exceeding $200 billion, providing strong financial support for its expansion efforts.

This acquisition comes on the heels of a grant approved in 2020 by the Jacksonville City Council for the former owner, Flying W Plastics. The council allocated $100,000 to assist with building renovations, with the objective of creating 28 new jobs while the company committed to investing $8 million in improvement projects.

Infra Pipe Solutions has a rich history dating back to 1968 and has grown to become the 29th largest pipe, profile, and tubing extruder across North America, with estimated sales reaching $220 million. The company currently employs around 350 individuals across its existing facilities, producing pipe products tailored for various sectors including natural gas distribution, telecommunications, and waterworks applications.

The products manufactured at the Jacksonville facility will be branded under the Sclairpipe name. These products are specifically designed to withstand corrosion, biological growth, chemical attacks, and various environmental challenges, reinforcing Infra Pipe’s commitment to providing high-quality infrastructure solutions. This acquisition not only reflects the company’s growth trajectory but also underlines its commitment to enhancing manufacturing capabilities and customer service across North American markets.
