Jacksonville – The Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp are thrilled to announce a special rebranding as the Jacksonville Honey Drippers for four games in the upcoming 2025 season. This initiative is designed to celebrate the Eastside neighborhood and its beloved frozen treat, the Honey Dripper, making it an exciting event for local fans.
The Honey Drippers Weekends will take place on May 24 & 25 and August 30 & 31, 2025, at VyStar Ballpark. The Jumbo Shrimp will face off against the Memphis Redbirds on the May dates and the Rochester Red Wings in late August. On Saturdays, games will kick off at 6:35 p.m., while Sunday games will start at 6:05 p.m., providing ample opportunity for the community to experience this unique event.
The Honey Dripper is a well-loved treat in the Eastside neighborhood, known for its refreshing flavors that often incorporate fresh fruit. The treat is prepared by freezing Kool-Aid or fruit punch in cups, allowing fans to enjoy a taste of nostalgia alongside their favorite minor league baseball games. The popularity of the Honey Dripper has been largely attributed to Alice Kimbrough, affectionately known as the Honey Dripper Lady, who owns the Honey Dripper House and has played a pivotal role in making the frozen dessert a staple in the area.
As part of the Honey Drippers Weekends, attendees will have the chance to sample Honey Dripper frozen treats at the ballpark, reinforcing the connection between the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp and the local culture. Additionally, the team will embrace their new identity by donning specially designed jerseys and hats, featuring a vibrant color scheme of light blue, yellow, and pink, reflecting the essence of the Honey Dripper.
To further engage the fans, the first 2,000 attendees at the Saturday games and the first 500 at Sunday games will receive an exclusive Honey Drippers item, adding an extra layer of excitement to the game-day experience. While the specifics of the items have yet to be disclosed, this promotion is sure to entice local supporters and enhance the festivities surrounding the rebranding.
Tickets for the Honey Drippers Weekends will be available for purchase starting at 10 a.m. on February 24, 2025. Fans can buy single-game tickets as well as Honey Drippers merchandise online at the team’s official website or by calling the designated phone number. This will provide an easy avenue for supporters of the Jumbo Shrimp to ensure their attendance at the celebratory games.
The rebranding effort marks the first alternate identity adopted by the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp since they adopted their current name in 2017. Previous alternate names have not been associated with the franchise since its transition to the Jumbo Shrimp. The Honey Drippers initiative not only highlights a delicious treat deeply rooted in Jacksonville’s culture but also reinforces the baseball team’s commitment to celebrating and engaging with the communities that support them.
With the combination of local flavor, visually appealing uniforms, and interactive fan experiences, the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp’s rebranding as Honey Drippers is poised to make its mark in the Jacksonville sports scene. As the Mayo Clinic explains the positive impact of engaging community spirits, it seems that the Jumbo Shrimp are set to not only entertain but also to strengthen connections within their vibrant hometown.
