Fireworks display over the St. Johns River in Jacksonville, Florida

News Summary

Jacksonville is preparing for its annual Fourth of July fireworks display at 9 p.m. over the St. Johns River. This year’s show will feature a single fireworks presentation launched from the Acosta Bridge and a barge. Some prime viewing areas will be closed due to construction, including Riverfront Plaza and sections of the Riverwalk. Attendees are encouraged to use public docks and check parking options prior to the event. Celebrations will also be held in nearby communities, with various festivities including fireworks, parades, and live music.

Jacksonville is set to host its official Fourth of July fireworks display at 9 p.m. on July 4, 2025, over the St. Johns River. This year’s event will see a single, centralized fireworks show launched from the Acosta Bridge and a barge situated between the Main Street and Hart bridges, as ongoing construction limits access to other potential viewing locations.

The fireworks will be the highlight of various festivities taking place across Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia, including parades, walks, and festivals. However, due to construction currently underway, some of the city’s prime viewing spots will be unavailable. Notably, Riverfront Plaza will be off-limits, and the Riverwalk will be closed between the Main Street and Acosta bridges, as well as west of the Acosta Bridge. Additionally, access to the Southbank will be restricted from the Acosta Bridge to Friendship Fountain.

In the hours leading up to the show, Main Street and Acosta bridges will be closed from 8:45 to 10:30 p.m. to facilitate the display. For those wishing to view the fireworks, public docks will remain open, and both public and private parking lots in downtown Jacksonville will be accessible, with recommended parking locations provided by Downtown Vision.

Beyond Jacksonville, numerous communities in the region are gearing up for their own Independence Day celebrations. Events include the City of Alachua’s fireworks display at Legacy Park, featuring choreographed music, and the 57th Annual 4th of July Celebration in Keystone Heights at City Hall, where local vendors and live entertainment will be present. The American Pride Fourth of July event at Moosehaven in Orange Park will offer live music, food trucks, and fireworks over the St. Johns River, while Columbia County and Lake City will host their festivities at the Fairgrounds from 5 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., featuring fireworks, food trucks, and a kids’ zone.

Jacksonville Beach, Historic Downtown Fernandina Beach, and St. Augustine will also have fireworks displays, and the first Friday at Friendship Fountain will begin with a fireworks showcase starting at 9 p.m. Additionally, Independence Day celebrations in St. Marys will include a 5K and 10K run, parade, local arts and crafts, and various food vendors. Residents and visitors will also have opportunities to enjoy fireworks from Jekyll Island, Sea Island, and Brunswick, where events will feature games, food, and live music.

As the Fourth of July approaches, it is important for attendees to plan accordingly due to the restrictions and construction affecting access to various viewing locations in Jacksonville. The single fireworks show promises to be a stunning display against the skyline, completing a day of celebration and community gathering throughout the region.
