Jacksonville—As the start of the school year approaches in August, Jacksonville is gearing up for a series of back-to-school events designed to help students and families prepare for the new academic year. These events will provide a variety of free services, including school supplies, meals, haircuts, and health check-ups across multiple locations in the Jacksonville area.

The Emmanuel Project is kicking off the back-to-school initiative with a two-day event on July 17 and July 18. The event will take place at Community Church Keystone Heights, offering free well visits, backpack giveaways, haircuts, food distribution, and free school physicals from 5-8 p.m. on July 17 and 9 a.m.-12 p.m. on July 18.

Additionally, the Clay County Back-to-School Outreach will be held on July 25 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Salvation Army in Middleburg. This event will feature free hot dogs, snow cones, haircuts, and backpacks available while supplies last.

On July 26, several events are scheduled, including the Back-to-School Bash 2025 at St. Johns River State College. From 9-11 a.m., families can obtain free backpacks and school supplies at the Thrasher-Horne Center. Concurrently, a Military Appreciation Back to School Bash will be hosted for active military members and their families at First Coast YMCA in Fleming Island from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. The Northside Community’s 4th Annual Back-to-School Giveaway will also take place on this day from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., providing fun and resources for attendees.

Later on the same day, the Back-to-School Block Party will run from 5-8 p.m. at the Clay High School Gym Parking Lot, offering families in need access to school resources including supplies and community support.

As August unfolds, more events are set to take place. On August 2, Middleburg will host a free back-to-school photo session from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., providing digital photos for attendees. A Back-to-School Giveaway will also occur on this day from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Middleburg Civic Association, distributing school supplies to students from grades K-12.

Meanwhile, Oakleaf Baptist Church in Orange Park will hold its first Back-to-School Bash on August 2 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. For those looking for unique experiences, the Orange Park Mall is organizing a 70s-themed Back-to-School Bash from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the same date.

Other notable initiatives include a Back-to-School Supply Drive by Daniel Total Man Inc. on August 3 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., featuring giveaways of backpacks and supplies on a first-come, first-served basis. Trinity Community Church in Fleming Island will also host a back-to-school bash that day from 4-6 p.m., providing various activities and snacks for families.

Families can look forward to a fun-filled Back-to-School Splash Bash on August 16 at Hickory Grove Baptist Church from 12-3 p.m., featuring water slides, games, and food, making for an entertaining way to finish off the summer before school starts.

These events play a vital role in supporting students and their families as they transition back to school. Organizations across Jacksonville are working together to ensure children get the supplies and resources they need for a successful academic year, thereby reinforcing the community’s commitment to education and well-being.
