Jacksonville, Florida – Habit Burger & Grill, a popular restaurant chain based in Irvine, California, is set to enhance the dining landscape in Jacksonville by opening three new locations by late 2025. The decision reflects the community’s growing appetite for fresh, quality fast food, particularly in a city recognized for its diverse culinary scene.
The first of the three locations will be established at 13559 Beach Blvd, on the site of a former Bojangles restaurant that closed its doors in June 2023. A city permit was issued on May 6 to begin renovation and build-out of the 3,875-square-foot building, with an estimated cost of $750,000. Falcon Franchise Construction LLC has been selected for the renovation work at the Beach Blvd site, which will also feature a drive-thru to serve customers more conveniently. This location is strategically situated at the busy intersection of Beach and Hodges boulevards on a 0.83-acre parcel.
The second location will be located near River City Marketplace at 15022 Max Leggett Parkway, adjacent to BJ’s Restaurant & Brewhouse. The North Jacksonville restaurant will consist of a 2,063-square-foot building complete with a mobile pickup lane and seating for up to 30 patrons. It will also feature a drive-thru designed to accommodate up to 10 vehicles at once, along with surface parking available for 27 vehicles. JEA, the municipal utility, issued a service availability determination letter for this project on April 29, indicating that plans are moving forward.
The third planned location involves a renovation of an existing Arby’s at 9171 Baymeadows Road. The city is currently reviewing the proposed renovations, which are also estimated to cost $750,000. R.I.C. Properties, the owner of the Baymeadows site, occupies a 0.8-acre area that has been in operation since 1985. The renovation plan includes updates to both the interior—featuring new equipment and furnishings—and the exterior, which will see improvements in paint finishes and landscaping.
Habit Burger & Grill is admired for its menu that includes freshly chargrilled burgers, chicken, tuna, salads, and shakes, all prepared to order over an open flame. Chef Jason Triail, the director of Culinary Innovation at Habit Burger & Grill, has expressed enthusiasm about introducing the brand to Jacksonville. The company aims to hire approximately 40 employees for these new locations, presenting new job opportunities in the area.
Currently, Habit Burger & Grill operates 12 locations across Florida, primarily concentrated in South Florida, with upcoming openings including a new site in St. Petersburg. Importantly, the Jacksonville restaurants will be directly owned and operated by Habit Burger & Grill, as these locations will not function under a franchise model.
Founded in 1969 in Santa Barbara, California, Habit Burger & Grill has expanded to over 380 locations across 14 states and international markets. Recently, the chain was acquired by Yum! Brands, a corporation well-known for its ownership of popular fast-food chains including KFC, Taco Bell, and Pizza Hut. Habit Burger & Grill’s commitment to quality is reflected in their promise of using 100% fresh ground beef for their signature Charburgers, which have garnered national recognition among food enthusiasts.
With these exciting developments on the horizon, Habit Burger & Grill is poised to become a prominent player in Jacksonville’s fast-casual dining arena, providing both delicious food choices and contributing to the local economy.
