Jacksonville – Breeze Airways has officially launched a new non-stop flight service from Jacksonville International Airport to Akron-Canton Airport in North Canton, Ohio. This new route is set to commence on September 4 and will operate twice a week on Thursdays and Sundays.

The introduction of this service aims to enhance travel options for residents of Jacksonville, providing an accessible pathway to the Northeast Ohio region. The flights are expected to attract not only leisure travelers but also football enthusiasts eager to visit the famed Pro Football Hall of Fame, located nearby.

In tandem with Breeze Airways, Allegiant Airlines will also kick off its own non-stop flights from Jacksonville to Akron-Canton starting on May 23. Allegiant’s service will operate on Mondays and Fridays, thereby offering additional flexibility to travelers looking to visit Ohio.

For those considering Breeze Airways, one-way tickets are currently available at a promotional fare as low as $59, with regular fares starting at $69. This competitive pricing reflects the airline’s commitment to providing affordable travel options for its customers.

Jacksonville International Airport continues to evolve, with plans to expand its route offerings, which currently encompass about 50 routes. The airport recently reported a growth in passenger traffic, with over 7.6 million passengers recorded in 2024, a 2.8% increase from the prior year. Ongoing construction at the airport aims to add an additional concourse and a third parking garage, with completion expected by the end of 2026.

In addition to the new service to Akron-Canton, Delta Air Lines has initiated routes from Jacksonville to Austin, enhancing the connectivity options available for local travelers. Allegiant Airlines is also planning to introduce direct flights to other destinations, including Des Moines, Grand Rapids, Toronto, and Wilmington, set to start on the same date as Breeze’s Akron-Canton flights.

Breeze Airways initially began serving Jacksonville International Airport in May 2022 and has rapidly expanded its network since then. The airline, founded by industry veteran David Neeleman, now offers more than 275 year-round and seasonal routes to 72 cities across 32 states. Its fleet consists of modern Airbus A220-300 jets, featuring onboard Wi-Fi and “Ascent” first-class seating.

Operating a point-to-point model, Breeze Airways focuses on connecting smaller markets without existing direct flight options. This approach not only benefits passengers seeking to travel to underserved destinations but also contributes positively to the overall air travel landscape.

As Breeze Airways continues to expand its services, the launch of the Jacksonville to Akron-Canton route represents a strategic move to cater to the travel needs of the local community, particularly as both leisure and business demand for air travel grows in the aftermath of the pandemic.
