Central Florida Weather Alert: Prepare for Heat and Storms!

News Summary

Central Florida is gearing up for an unpredictable weekend of weather. Friday and Saturday promise sunny skies and temperatures around 86°F, perfect for outdoor activities. However, Sunday will bring severe storms in the evening, especially for areas northwest of Orlando, with potential gusty winds and heavy rainfall. Travelers are advised to check flight statuses due to delays at Orlando International Airport. Stay informed and prepared for a rollercoaster weekend weather-wise.

Central Florida Weather Alert: Prepare for Heat and Storms!

Hey there, Central Florida! As we head into the weekend, you might want to grab your sunscreen and your umbrellas because we’ve got a mixed bag of weather headed our way.

Friday’s Forecast: Sunshine and Breezes

Starting with Friday, it’s looking to be a lovely day! You can expect morning temperatures in the mid to upper 70s—perfect weather for a morning stroll or a coffee run. By the afternoon, the heat will be on, as highs reach around 86 degrees. So yes, it’s wise to stay hydrated! The skies will be mostly sunny, and the breeze should keep things feeling pleasant. The chance of rain is pretty low at just 10%, so it’s a great day to enjoy the outdoors.

Saturday: More Sunshine

Saturday looks very similar to Friday! We’re in for more beautiful sunshine, slight humidity, and a high of, you guessed it, 86 degrees again. Sounds like another perfect day for any outdoor plans you may have. Just remember to wear that sunscreen, folks!

Watch Out for Sunday Storms!

Now, here’s where things get a little tricky. While Sunday will start off with mostly sunny weather and temperatures once again reaching 86 degrees, don’t let your guard down! As the day rolls on, a cold front is moving in, and with it comes the potential for strong to severe storms in the evening. As a result, we’ve got ourselves a Weather Alert Day issued for Sunday night.

Storms are expected to roll in from the northwest toward Metro Orlando as the evening progresses. Those living in areas northwest of Orlando, particularly northern Marion County, should be especially vigilant, as these regions are at a greater risk for isolated strong storms. The main threats from these storms include gusty winds, intense lightning, and heavy rainfall. So if you have plans, keep an eye on the sky!

Recent Weather Recap

This past Tuesday, Central Florida experienced unseasonably warm weather, hitting a high of 90 degrees—the first time we’ve seen those temperatures in 2025! Just a reminder that our weather can be unpredictable. Earlier this week, various tornado watches and warnings were in effect for counties including Sumter, Pinellas, and Hernando; luckily, many of those warnings have since expired.

Travel Woes

If you’re planning on flying out of Orlando International Airport, you might want to check your flight status. Delays are averaging between 90 minutes and 2 hours due to the impending weather. So perhaps consider checking in early and packing a little patience!

What to Expect After the Storms

Once the Sunday evening storms blow through, things are expected to calm down by midnight. For Monday, we’re looking forward to some much needed relief, with much cooler weather bringing highs in the lower to mid-70s and decreased humidity. That’s right! Prepare to feel refreshed!

And don’t pack your shorts away just yet! Midweek looks to warm up again, with afternoon temperatures reaching close to 80 degrees by Wednesday. Central Florida, your weekend weather is shaping up to be a rollercoaster ride, so keep that sunscreen and your raincoat handy!

Stay safe, stay aware, and enjoy the weather, whatever it may bring!
