Adventure Landing’s Shipwreck Island Water Park Opens for Its 30th Season in Jacksonville Beach

This weekend, families in Jacksonville Beach have a reason to celebrate as Adventure Landing’s Shipwreck Island Water Park is gearing up to officially reopen for its 30th season. That’s right, three decades of splashes, thrills, and outdoor fun! The beloved water park has become a staple in the community, providing countless memories for families over the years. From the sound of laughter echoing around the wave pool to the rush of adrenaline on the water slides, it’s been a go-to destination for locals and tourists alike.

Maybe Not the End Just Yet

There have been rumors that this could be the final season for the iconic water park, but hold your horses! Those predictions about Adventure Landing’s imminent closure haven’t come to pass. Recently, the park has secured a lease extension that will allow them to remain in operation for the foreseeable future. The excitement doesn’t stop there – many in the community believe there may be more extensions to come, prolonging the fun even further.

Spring Break Kicks Off the Festivities

As if the reopening wasn’t exciting enough, the timing couldn’t be better! The waterpark’s opening coincides perfectly with the start of spring break. Families are invited to dive in and make the most of the attractions that await. Featuring exhilarating water slides, a relaxing lazy river, and a thrilling wave pool, there’s something for every type of water enthusiast. Whether you’re a thrill-seeker or someone who prefers to float along in tranquility, Adventure Landing has you covered.

A Celebration of Memories

In honor of its remarkable 30-year journey, community members are encouraged to share their fondest memories of Shipwreck Island Water Park. Anyone who has enjoyed a sun-soaked day at the park likely has a story to tell, and now is the time to share those treasured moments. Assistant General Manager Windy Leaptrott, who has been with the park since 2009, has witnessed a wealth of changes and has plenty of stories of her own to remember.

Plans for Expansion Amidst Uncertainty

It may be bittersweet news, but it comes with some level of optimism. The park has successfully secured eight lease extensions from the development group Trevato Development since 2021. Plans are in motion for a 415-unit apartment complex to be developed on-site, which aims to include affordable housing and necessary retail spaces for the community. Nevertheless, Adventure Landing’s owner, Hank Woodburn, remains open to relocating if the situation calls for it, with hopes of staying nearby in either Duval or St. Johns Counties.

Community’s Favorite Family Destination

Adventure Landing isn’t just a waterpark; it’s a major attraction in Duval County. Annually, the park welcomes around 500,000 guests and stands as the largest youth employer in the area. Beyond the water adventures, the park is also home to a variety of other attractions, including exciting go-kart racing, engaging mini-golf, laser tag, batting cages, and fun-packed arcade games.

Commemorating 30 Years of Fun

The 30th-anniversary celebrations won’t just stop at the park’s reopening. Special events are being planned throughout the year, adding a festive flair to the season. Families can take advantage of season passes for 2025, available now for the price of $139.99, which includes unlimited access to the park for the rest of this year!

Fun Doesn’t Stop Here

And for those who love a good scare, mark your calendars! The park’s popular Halloween attraction, Haunt Nights, is also set to return on October 4. As you can see, there’s no shortage of excitement at Adventure Landing, a place that continues to promise unforgettable experiences for families.

So, whether you’re a long-time visitor or planning your first trip, this season is shaping up to be a memorable one. Here’s to 30 years of fun, joy, and adventure at Adventure Landing’s Shipwreck Island Water Park!
