Jacksonville Shines with Trinity Pearson’s Stellar Performance

In the vibrant city of Jacksonville, sports enthusiasts have plenty to celebrate this week! Trinity Pearson, a remarkable senior outside hitter from Wolfson High School, has just been honored as the Florida Times-Union Girls Athlete of the Week for the Northeast Florida high school sports season. This recognition stems from her outstanding performance during the week covering October 6-11, 2025, as she helped her team clinch the coveted Gateway Conference championship.

Unforgettable Achievements

What a week it was for Pearson! Not only did she show incredible skill on the court, but her stats also tell a story of determination and talent. Throughout the Gateway Conference Championship, she contributed an impressive 12 aces, 40 kills, 51 digs, and 43 service points. Thanks to her phenomenal efforts, the Wolfpack celebrated their first Gateway Conference championship victory since 2001. That’s a long time coming, and you just know the excitement in the air was electric!

A Competitive Field

In the voting for this special recognition, Pearson surpassed several talented contenders, proving she is among the elite athletes in the region. Leah Cox from Fletcher diving, Ivey Edgell of Creekside cross country, Alexia Iordanov who dazzled in Beachside golf, Caroline MacDonald who showcased her swimming skills in Providence, and Lola McSwain from Christ’s Church volleyball all put forth strong arguments for this accolade. However, Pearson’s incredible performance clearly stole the spotlight.

Get Ready for the Next Round!

As the excitement continues to build in the Northeast Florida area, it’s time for athletes to strive for their moment in the sun! The Florida Times-Union is currently accepting nominations for the next Girls High School Athlete of the Week for the upcoming week of October 13-18, 2025. Coaches are encouraged to submit players’ stats and scores to the designated email, ensuring that the remarkable feats of young athletes don’t go unnoticed. Remember to submit the nominations by 7 p.m. on Saturdays!

Voting Dynamics

Mark your calendars! Voting kicks off every Monday morning and wraps up at 10 a.m. on Thursday, October 23. For fairness and integrity, the voting is limited to one submission per device per hour. Additionally, there are measures in place to disqualify any candidates if tampering is detected, ensuring a healthy competition.

Highlighting More Exceptional Talents!

This week’s spotlight doesn’t just shine on Pearson! The performances of many other young athletes have also caught attention. A freshman recently clocked in at an impressive 19:01 to win the individual championship at the Gateway Conference race held at Cecil Field. In the swimming realm, another freshman made waves by clinching victories in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:02.10, 100 backstroke at 1:03.33, and scored wins in two relays during a dual meet against Beachside. The competition keeps getting hotter!

Meanwhile, a sophomore bowler rolled up a fantastic 382 two-game series, ensuring the Blue Devils repeated as Gateway Conference champions. A junior athlete shined bright with 32 kills, 21 digs, and 6 aces—leading Baldwin to victory in the District 3-3A championship as well.

This week also celebrated remarkable achievements from the Wolfpack, with another freshman posting a time of 20:30, leading her team to their first Gateway Conference title since 1998. And let’s not forget a stellar performance from a freshman golfer, who shot a 5-under 30 to drive her team to victory over Clay. Lastly, a senior showcased her talent with 22 digs in Bishop Kenny’s victory over Menendez in the District 4-4A championship.

With such talented young athletes making waves, Jacksonville has a lot to be proud of! Stay tuned for more exciting performances and recognize the dedication and hard work of these exceptional student-athletes.
