Jacksonville Families Devastated by Delays in Headstone Deliveries

Grieving families in Jacksonville, Florida, are facing emotional distress over significant delays in receiving headstones from a local business, Remake Stones. A number of clients have reported frustration and heartbreak related to their orders, which have not been fulfilled within promised timelines.

Roscheika Mickens, who ordered a custom headstone for her cousin in January 2025, has experienced prolonged anguish as she awaits completion. She paid $600 with the expectation that the headstone would be ready by February 21. However, more than eight months have passed since she placed her order, leaving her without a headstone that honors her cousin, who was murdered years prior. Business owner Raynard Rogers initially offered Mickens a $200 refund in writing, but that refund has never been received.

In July 2025, Mickens returned to inquire about her order and was informed that the business was still waiting on a picture necessary for the headstone’s design. Her experience is not unique; another customer, Francella Melton, has also encountered significant delays with her mother’s headstone. Melton paid in cash for her order in March 2025, with assurances that it would be ready in time for Mother’s Day. Instead, she received the headstone months later, which was poorly made and improperly placed. To make matters worse, the picture of her mother on the stone was found shattered.

Melton expressed her deep emotional pain and disappointment, describing the service as disrespectful to both her and her mother. Both Mickens and Melton have faced challenges when trying to reach Rogers for updates, finding that their calls often went unanswered and visits to the business yielded little success.

Anthony Austin, a local investigator, found evidence of operational issues at Remake Stones, including disconnected phone lines and a “closed” sign posted at the business location. Inside, a handwritten note claimed, “We are not out of business,” however, many customers remain unsatisfied and still awaiting their orders.

Remake Stones recently posted an update on their Facebook page, stating that they are working diligently to complete outstanding orders despite the ongoing difficulties. This has not assuaged the concerns of those who have been left in limbo regarding their loved ones’ memorials.

Mickens and Melton both wish to highlight the emotional weight associated with their experiences, noting that the legacies of their loved ones are both priceless and sacred. In an effort to address the complaints, Austin managed to reach Rogers, who explained in a voicemail that production delays were attributed to changes with suppliers and personal health issues. Rogers urged customers to exercise patience while the issues are resolved.

The Jacksonville community is encouraged to reach out and report similar frustrations or experiences with Remake Stones by contacting the designated email at [email protected]. It is hoped that increased communication from affected customers may assist in finding solutions to the ongoing problems surrounding delayed headstone orders.
