Jacksonville – The Jacksonville Port Authority (JAXPORT) has been awarded the coveted 2025 Quest for Quality Award by Logistics Management magazine, recognizing it as one of the top-performing ports in the nation. This award underscores JAXPORT’s exceptional performance, particularly noting its high score in the ‘Ease of Doing Business’ category, where it ranked first among coastal ports in North America in an annual survey.

The Quest for Quality Awards, established to honor outstanding service in the logistics industry, are based on comprehensive evaluations from thousands of logistics professionals who provide feedback on their experiences at various ports. JAXPORT has received this prestigious award five times in the last decade, demonstrating a consistent commitment to excellence.

JAXPORT’s Chief Executive Officer emphasized the port’s dedication to delivering exceptional service and maintaining strong schedule reliability. As the largest container port in Florida by volume, JAXPORT also leads in vehicle handling and breakbulk operations, positioning itself as a crucial player in global trade logistics.

Looking ahead, JAXPORT plans to expand its capabilities significantly by introducing new global ocean carrier services that will connect Jacksonville with Europe, Asia, and South America in 2025. This expansion will be supported by substantial investments, which include the acquisition of new container cranes, modernizing berths, and upgrading terminals to enhance shipping efficiencies.

In an effort to further accommodate the growing demand for logistics and shipping space, JAXPORT has made a recent acquisition of a warehouse and distribution facility at 1830 E. 21st St. in Talleyrand, valued at $4.5 million. This facility spans 6.22 acres and comprises five buildings with a total area of 51,492 square feet, with the latest structure completed in 2024. This acquisition aligns with JAXPORT’s Strategic Master Plan, which focuses on expanding its container, vehicle, and breakbulk business lines.

JAXPORT is also poised to enhance its services by launching a new route connecting Asia to Jacksonville starting in February 2025 through Ocean Network Express. This service will include stops at multiple key locations, including China, South Korea, and Panama, before arriving at various U.S. ports, ultimately enhancing the existing East Coast 2 service. The commodities transported will include retail products, food and beverages, electronics, and intermediate goods, further enriching the port’s offerings and supporting trade on the East Coast.

Infrastructure improvements at JAXPORT have enhanced container handling capabilities, enabling the port to attract global shippers. Key upgrades have included advancements to the terminal gate system and paving enhancements that allow for increased container stack heights. With a 47-foot deepwater harbor designed for two-way ship traffic, JAXPORT ensures efficient vessel operations and facilitates same-day access to approximately 98 million U.S. consumers.

As JAXPORT continues to grow, it is committed to securing additional land near its terminals to support ongoing operations and expansion efforts. The recognition from the Quest for Quality Award and the innovative plans moving forward further solidify JAXPORT’s status as a leader in the transportation and logistics industry, ensuring that it remains a vital contributor to global trade and commerce.
