Construction of Ring Power's new manufacturing facility in Jacksonville

News Summary

Ring Power Corp. has secured a $24 million permit to build a new manufacturing facility in North Jacksonville. The new site, Building 600, will expand operations for Phoenix Products, the company’s subsidiary. Covering over 231,000 square feet, it will create around 120 new jobs. This significant development comes with substantial economic incentives from the city, aiming to bolster local employment and enhance operational capabilities. The facility is expected to be completed by May 2026.

Jacksonville – Ring Power Corp. has received a $24 million permit from the city to construct a new manufacturing facility in North Jacksonville. The permit, issued on August 11, allows The Conlan Co. to begin work on the project, which will be dedicated to Ring Power’s subsidiary, Phoenix Products.

The new facility, designated as Building 600, will be situated at 1511 Zoo Parkway within the Imeson Park South business park. Covering 231,467 square feet, the building will include approximately 20,000 square feet allocated for office space and will feature two remote restrooms.

Local civil engineering firm England, Thims & Miller Inc. will manage the engineering aspects of the project. The architectural design will be handled by POH+W Architects, based in Alpharetta, Georgia. The land for the new facility was purchased from VanTrust Real Estate LLC for $7 million on May 8.

This 32.3-acre site received approval for site clearing on January 23, allowing construction activities to proceed. The new facility marks an important move for Phoenix Products, which plans to expand and relocate from its current 89,000-square-foot facility in the Talleyrand area of East Jacksonville. The relocation is timely, as it provides the company the opportunity to enhance its operational capabilities.

On June 10, the Jacksonville City Council approved an economic development agreement for the project, referred to as Project Rotunda. Shortly after, Phoenix Products announced their expansion plans on June 11, with construction expected to complete by May 2026. The company specializes in manufacturing custom generator enclosures, fuel tanks, and fueling systems for various sectors, including banking, data centers, transportation, and government.

The expansion is projected to bolster Phoenix Products’ workforce significantly, with the current number of employees expected to increase from 150 to 270. This growth will generate at least 120 new jobs in Jacksonville, encompassing positions such as welders, electricians, project managers, and engineers, with an average salary of $62,000.

The Jacksonville City Council has also approved a $1.1 million incentive for the project. This includes a Recapture Enhanced Value Grant based on a 10-year incentive tied to the anticipated increase in property taxes resulting from the new development. The city estimates a return on investment of $4.19 for every dollar spent on incentives for Project Rotunda.

Additionally, the new facility strategically positions Phoenix Products approximately 6 miles west of JaxPort’s Blount Island Marine Terminal, enhancing both operational efficiency and logistics. Currently, Phoenix Products occupies a facility located at 1544 E. Eighth St., about 9 miles south of the site of the new construction.

Previous expansions for the company in 2020 also received incentives, including a $100,000 business infrastructure grant. The city anticipates that the establishment of the new facility will double the size of the Jacksonville operation by adding an additional 240,000 square feet of space.

In summary, as Ring Power Corp. embarks on this significant investment in Jacksonville, the new manufacturing facility is poised to create numerous jobs while bolstering both the local economy and the operational capability of Phoenix Products.
