Jacksonville, FL – Army Offers $15,000 Reward in 1992 Disappearance of Family

The Army’s Criminal Investigation Division (CID) has announced a $15,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest and conviction in the long-standing case surrounding the disappearance of Tina Grogan and her two sons, Stephon Grogan and Dale Grogan Jr. The family went missing from their home on a U.S. Army base in Würzburg, Germany, on November 30, 1992.

Authorities believe that individuals who may have been in or around the Jacksonville area hold critical information regarding the case. Following recent developments, particularly surrounding Dale Grogan, Tina’s husband, the investigation into their disappearance has been reopened. Dale Grogan was arrested in January 2025 on charges of attempting to meet a minor, during which he allegedly made incriminating statements about Tina and her disappearance while living in Germany. This new information has prompted authorities to revisit the unresolved case, which had been classified as cold in December 2002 due to a lack of evidence.

After the family vanished, extensive searches conducted by Army CID and the Würzburg Kriminal Polizei failed to locate any trace of the Grogans. For more than three decades, the case has remained unsolved, leaving questions unanswered and loved ones in despair. Tina’s mother, Cheryl Williams, has recently voiced her longing to find closure before her passing, expressing her sorrow over the absence of information regarding her daughter and grandchildren.

In a concerted effort to revive attention on this cold case, Tina’s family collaborated with Project: Cold Case in 2019 to raise awareness. Their initiative included the publication of a Cold Case Spotlight article in 2022, created by a University of North Florida student. This ongoing advocacy is fueled by a desire to encourage anyone with potential leads to come forward. The family has released a statement urging members of the community to provide any information that could assist in finding answers and achieving justice for Tina and her children after more than 30 years of uncertainty.

Key advocate Kevin Backmann, the founder of Project: Cold Case, has underscored the significance of community involvement in solving this longstanding mystery. Investigators are hoping that Dale Grogan’s recent arrest will yield further leads that may shine light on the circumstances surrounding the family’s disappearance.

Officials are asking anyone who might have information about the case, no matter how minor it seems, to contact the Army CID Cold Case Unit. They can be reached at (520) 706-8685 or through anonymous tips submitted online. The Army CID remains dedicated to unraveling the truth behind the Grogan family’s disappearance and bringing closure to those who have been left behind.
