JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A Jacksonville Chick-fil-A that has been dark since a June fire is set to welcome customers again on Tuesday, Oct. 27, with doors opening at 10:30 a.m.

The restaurant, known as the Butler Blvd location, is in Butler Pointe Plaza, at 7147 Philips Highway. Its online store page now carries a short note telling guests the team looks forward to serving them again soon.

The fire broke out before dawn on June 9 and was believed to have started with an electrical problem. Nobody was hurt, but flames heavily damaged the kitchen, the drive-thru and the part of the dining room next to them.

A city building permit filed July 9 estimated the work on the 4,969-square-foot building, covering both repairs and changes, at about $1.5 million. The damage kept the restaurant closed for about four months.

Breakfast will not be served on reopening day, according to an announcement the restaurant posted online on Oct. 19. Morning service is expected to return to its normal schedule after that.

The location has been part of the Philips Highway corridor since 2004 and has had several franchise owners over the years, according to state business licensing records.

The store is also recruiting. Its listing shows openings for back-of-house and front-of-house team members in both full-time and part-time roles. Like every restaurant in the chain, it will stay closed on Sundays.

For drivers along Butler Boulevard and Philips Highway, the return means one more lunch and dinner option back in the busy shopping plaza heading into the holiday season.
