JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Breakfast chain Keke’s Breakfast Cafe is set to open its fifth Jacksonville restaurant on Thursday, Oct. 22, adding a Northside spot at River City Marketplace a few miles east of Jacksonville International Airport.

The new cafe sits at 840 Nautica Drive, Suite 115, and doors open at 7 a.m. on opening day. Two hours later, at 9, the JAX Chamber is scheduled to help with the ceremonial ribbon cutting.

Opening day perks include a complimentary short stack for early guests until the batter runs out, along with an hourly drawing for a month of free pancakes.

The restaurant fills 3,500 square feet created by combining and renovating two neighboring storefronts. One had been home to Mr. Potato Spread until its October 2024 closing, and the other to Mattress One, which left in late 2019. The dining room is licensed for as many as 149 seats.

The Orlando-based chain’s menu leans on waffles, pancakes, omelets and French toast, with sandwiches, burgers, wraps and salads for lunch. The cafe will serve every day of the week, opening at 7 in the morning and closing at 2:30 in the afternoon, so it is built for the breakfast and brunch crowd rather than dinner.

Keke’s first came to the Jacksonville market in 2019 at The Strand at Town Center. Its other city locations are in Oakleaf Town Center, Arlington and Mandarin, and the chain also operates restaurants in Saint Johns and St. Augustine. The location is a franchise, and the ownership team behind the new store, longtime partners in the restaurant business, already runs five Keke’s cafes and 63 Denny’s restaurants.
