JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The NAS Jax Air Show returns for its second and final day Sunday at Naval Air Station Jacksonville, one day after a crowd estimated at more than 200,000 people filled the base to see two of the military’s elite jet teams fly at the same show.
Saturday marked the first time the Navy Blue Angels and the Air Force Thunderbirds have shared the bill at a Jacksonville show. Base officials said the grounds hit full capacity shortly after 1 p.m., and many fans arrived well before dawn to claim a spot along the flight line.
The turnout followed a disappointing 2025, when the Blue Angels beach show was called off after a federal government shutdown and the budget squeeze that came with it.
Sunday follows the same schedule as Saturday. Gates open at 9 a.m., flying starts at 11 a.m., and the Blue Angels are slated to perform at 3 p.m. Admission and parking are free, and no tickets are needed. Organizers suggest bringing cash for food booths and for special seating.
Beyond the jets, the show has aircraft on static display, a Kids Zone with inflatable rides and bounce houses, face painting and science and technology activities. Commanding officer Capt. Ryan Dexter has urged visitors to come early and expect heavy traffic. There is no shade on the airfield, so sunscreen and a small umbrella are a good idea, and coolers are not allowed on the base.
Drivers are directed to the closest open parking space once they enter the gate, and the base posts on Facebook when lots fill up. NAS Jacksonville bills its show as the birthplace of the Blue Angels.
