The beautiful yet challenging golf course at PGA National Resort for the 2025 Cognizant Classic.
The 2025 Cognizant Classic is set to launch the Florida Swing on the PGA Tour from February 27 to March 2, 2025, at the PGA National Resort in Palm Beach Gardens. This challenging par-71 course, known for its 25 water hazards, poses significant challenges for players. With familiar faces and emerging stars in the mix, the tournament promises thrilling competition. The event will also benefit the Nicklaus Children’s Health Care Foundation, showcasing its impact beyond just golf.
Get ready, golf fans! The 2025 Cognizant Classic is about to tee off, marking the much-anticipated start of the Florida Swing on the PGA Tour. Set against the stunning backdrop of the PGA National Resort in sunny Palm Beach Gardens, this tournament is sure to be a thrill ride from February 27 to March 2, 2025.
The tournament will be played on a challenging par-71 course that stretches to an impressive 7,167 yards. But don’t let the distance fool you! This intricately designed course features a whopping 25 water hazards, meaning players will have to stay sharp as they face water on 15 of the 18 holes. Fairways average about 33 yards wide, while the greens are expansive—around 7,000 square feet—giving players a comfortable target to aim for.
In fact, past tournaments have shown just how intriguing this course can be. Last year, the field managed to hit 65% of fairways and about 70% of greens. But don’t get too comfortable, because PGA National is not just a walk in the park; adjustments made in the last year have made it the 20th most difficult course on Tour.
Among the field, keep a sharp eye on Russell Henley, who previously took home the trophy in 2014 and has performed impressively in recent years with two top-10 finishes at this very course. He’s had seven top-5 finishes over the past year, which certainly puts him in the spotlight.
Of course, you can’t forget about Sungjae Im, the reigning champion, who has quickly become a favorite. Remember Keith Mitchell? He took home the win here in 2019 and is well-known for his top-notch ball-striking skills. Emerging stars like Ben Griffin and Lucas Glover are also generating buzz, showcasing their recent form as they look to capture victory.
